8, like a normal person.
I tried running a boon prot w/ recall... As soon as the fight starts the heros never use e-drain or mantra without you telling them to, making multitasking much harder, and them running out of energy fast since they dont *understand* how much it heals.
As a bonder its quite effective if you have the healer hench, and the hero using not life barrier as the elite (doesn't seem to want to cast it, and it wants to cast balth spirit on everyone so you will have to manually control its casting slightly, although it will use the signet and the signet speed boost stance)

^ yea I've had the same problems running some of my favorite builds on the Hero. I ended up using the brilliant new skill (quite possibly my newest favorite monk skill) Glimmer of Light in a nifty little simple heal build. I found that running WoH on the hero was ridiculous because he'd never use it at the right time, and he was having trouble finding a skill to heal himself despite a few on the bar.
So the Glimmer of Light build I'm using now is pretty self suficient, and doesn't require him to think much.
It's something along the lines of:
Glimmer of Light, Comforting Words (whispers?), Sig of Devotion, Sig of Rejuvenation, Inspired Hex, Mend Aliment, and Rebirth. I don't think he really uses the Signets much, but Glimmer of Light is usually suficient to heal everyone.

I have had trouble with my monk hero using Inspired/Reveal as they tend to use the newly obtained replacement skill. And him spamming a 15 energy eternal burden does not help considering it lasts all of 4 or so seconds

Don't let JR hear that.
I tried giving him a BLight build.
Do NOT give him guardian and prot spirit. He'll keep spamming them until he runs out of energy on targets that don't need them.

Yea I was going to mention that, but I was distracted by shortsightedness.
Pretty much any skill that requires the hero to think too much doesn't work well. I'm having trouble with Dwyana's Kiss, WoH, etc. I've not tried it yet, but I'm not sure he'll use Holy Veil right either. He just doesn't really know or understand when to cast them to get the fullest effect. He just spams stuff without really trying to get the secondary effects to trigger... which is why I'm shying away from a boon build or a Blessed light build... although I considered them both! True you can tell him to use a skill, but that I've seen you can't make him use the skill on the right person, or in the right way. So pretty much, you need to pick skills that are straight forward, with no secondary effects to speak of, and with no chance of screwing up.

I wish we could write client side scripts for how our heros should behave, that would have preset markers to interupt and override the server side automation.
Or hell, server side scripts if they are feeling ballsy.
